Serena Anthony founder of Serena Anthony Music Academy has a Bachelor of Music (BM) degree in Professional Music (with music education concentration) from Berklee College of Music, Boston, USA. Serena is a Pianist, Singer, Cellist, and a Music Educator. She started learning piano when she was 8 years old from her dad, Prof. Cleophas Antony. Later she took lessons from classical pianist Dr. Irina Prilipiko Morgan (Founder and President of San Jose International Piano Competition, California) and jazz pianist Ray Santisi (Boston).

She has performed in several piano recitals/concerts, sung in many choirs and performed cello with orchestras both in India and in the US.

Music teaching is a deep-rooted passion for Serena and she has been training children for more than 20 years in both Piano and Singing and has trained two children’s choirs The Singing Angels in India and the Indian Gospel Melody choir in US. Both her piano and singing students have been trained to play frequently in recitals/concerts and her students have regularly been finalists at the Kawai National Junior Piano competition and some of them have won the top prizes. Students from her academy have also been selected to attend summer programs conducted by Julliard Music School and perform with students from many countries around the world. One of her students has gone on to become a full-time music major at Berklee College of Music Boston. Serena’s students have also excelled in music exams conducted by Trinity College London and ABRSM from UK boards in centers in India.

Currently, she teaches both piano and singing at Serena Anthony Music Academy in Bangalore and is also director of the Singing Angels Choir.

For Serena, music is a medium of expression and that is what she encourages her students to do. She believes that every child has the potential to learn music and her goal is to motivate and encourage students to interpret and express themselves through music so that it can have a lasting influence in their life. She has a wide range of students who have taken music as a profession or hobby or just for relaxation. Music is therapeutic and her happiest moment is when a parent calls her and says that their child is practicing for relaxation and she considers it as her greatest achievement and is proud that many parents have said that to her.
